Felix Mitterer, one of the most important contemporary Austrian authors, and Martyn Jacques, head of the British cult band the Tiger Lillies, have created a satirical black humor masterwork of musical theater. The musical concerns the “Weberischen” (the Weber Family) – Mozart’s wife Constanze Weber and her mother and her three sisters. Mozart was 22 in 1778 when he met the women of the Weber family in Mannheim. After that, Cacilia (Cilly) Weber and her four daughters (Josepha, Aloysia, Constanze, and Sophie) were always near him, they admired him, flirted with him, sang his compositions, ridiculed him, and got money out of him again and again.

Thanks to Mozart, all five of them made history. Whether they bore his children or inspired his opera characters, whether they threw his money out of the window or lent him some – after the rift with Salzburg, the Webers were Mozart’s family.

Mozart himself does not appear in this musical comedy – only his corpse lies on stage, is taken care of, loved, and destroyed…
